So, I've been slowly collecting gifts to bring over with us to Uganda. The problem I'm having though is that I am naturally drawn to everything African looking, and well, I don't necessarily think they are needing me to bring them something from the States that looks African, when they can get that right where they are...and probably much more beautiful looking...and not made in China.
I was absolutely appalled when I was at Target looking for a Baptism card to bring Charlene and all of the cards that had babies on them were white babies. Hello, this is the year 2008 (almost 2009), why is this sort of thing acceptable? I live in a community that is largely Catholic Latino, at least give me Latino babies on the cards!
